Wells Community Hospital - October update Jonathan Hazell

A message from Jonathan Hazell
the Chairman of Wells Hospital and Hospice Trust

We are pleased to announce our new hospital noticeboard on the wall next to Eagles Pharmacy at the top of Staithe Street in Wells. Several of you have said that you would like to be kept informed about the hospital and now you can. We will be displaying up to date information about clinics and other services at the hospital as well as news and forthcoming events. (thanks to David Jagger for giving us permission to use his wall).

Our art committee organises a rota of local artists to display their work at the hospital, everyone is welcome to visit and view the exhibition – admission is free! This month we have the celebrated John Tuck gracing our walls with wonderful pictures of local and nautical scenes.

We have appointed another part time member of staff, Emily Grecas, as administrative assistant.  The Trust now has a mound of paperwork relating to all aspects of the developing activities at the hospital, and Emily is doing a great job with her office skills to help us keep on top of it.

We are now ready to invite you all to become members of the hospital’s management company. From the members, a Board will be formed and that Board will hold to account the executive team. This governance model provides a powerful voice for community, staff and patient interests and we hope that many of you will choose to apply. It costs nothing to be a member you will just be required to give a guarantee of £1. Please telephone or write to the hospital with your name and address if interested, there is also a link on the hospital website.

There are several clinics and services at the hospital which you can attend simply by phoning to make an appointment, for an up to date list please see the noticeboard or the website. The more people that use these clinics the better – it helps us to convince everyone about how useful the hospital is for the community.
